Although I firmly believe that 2012 will be “The Year Of The Geek”, it’s been a slow start for us here at the Geeky Manifestos. 2011 was an ambitious and insanely frustrating year for us with everything from losing staff, losing capital venture funding, and then have half the staff lose their personal jobs (or in my case lose my car), it kinda took us a minute to gather our composure again and get back on track. Over the past few weeks, we have looked into multiple avenues to grow our blog and make our official comeback into the geek blogging world. Rest assured those who have been faithful reader of our blog: We’re coming back with a vengeance. (No pun to the Diehard movie)
A Couple of New Things We’re Adding!
Stop The Presses!: Stop The Presses, is our “WHOA BUDDY” news reel. We’re not a news blog, so you may not see this one a lot. But know, that when we’re talking about it, it’s a big deal in the geek world.
The Geek Roundtable Discussion: Starting in March, we’re going to be doing a weekly column that’s going to get imput from not only members of our staff, but contributors and fan contributors as well. As we are a group that wants to promote positive and intelligent opinions in the community, we feel that this is something where our fans can speak out, and not be judged on the topic!
Geeky Communication Cliff Notes: Something Lady Benihime (Venus) is starting later this month, is going to be talking about how we geeks communicate and how we as a society should improve or not improve on it. Yes, it ties in with the book The Geeky Manifestos Guide To Geek Communication which is to be coming out on April 16th, 2012, but we will also talk about other things related to communication and relationships as well.
The Book Confessions: Starting this Sunday,(2/19) and every Sunday till the release of The Geeky Manifestos Guide To Geek Communication, Lady Benihime will be writing about the entire book writing and publication process. It will be my personal confessional as well as giving tips to those who are considering publishing and writing books of their own.
Some Articles That Are Coming Back in 2012
Emerging Geekdoms: Just as I thought we were going to be commenting on a few geekdoms, we actually are going to be introducing some new ones. We’ll be talking about the rise of Bronies, Furries, Conventioners (Yes, they are their own if you don’t know it), The Progeeks, LARPers, and some other new Geekdoms that you may not have yet known about. We also will be expanding and continuing some conversations with Reenactors and Cyberpunk/Steampunk fans.
Friday Night Dungeons: I missed writing this column, so we’re bringing it back. But we’re also going to have contributors join us and expand this column not only to Tabletop Gaming, but to all forms of Gaming in the future!
Some Ambitious Projects and Adventures We’re Doing In 2012
The Geeky Manifestos Convention Tour 2012— So this year, we’re going to be doing some traveling not only in America, but in Canada as well! As our Senior Editor Tamara Hecht, will be conventioning in Canada (Cause she lives there) and I will be expanding my convention tour to not only anime conventions, but to gaming and Sci-Fi conventions as well. Some of our contributors also will be a part of our tour too, so stay tuned and find out where we are at. You never know, there might be a surprise for you!
The “Going Kindle” Project: We at The Geeky Manifestos are huge fans of the Kindle and other digital E-Readers, Tablets, Ipads, and whatever tech we can use while traveling. As such, we are now in the works to making our blog available to our readers and have our blog sent to your E-Reader every time we publish! So if you have an E-Reader, you don’t even have to be at a computer to read our entries, it will be sent to you, and you will be able to reach our archives at anytime all from your E-reader! Our plan is to have it up by the end of March 2012.
The Geeky Manifestos Guide To Geeky Communication: The BOOK! Our first book will be all about the many adventures of geeks and geek communication! The written draft is finished, and is now slated to release on April 16th, 2012. It will not only be available in formal pretty print, we will include the workbooks in the price! (Yes, you will be able to buy them separately if you don’t want both!) Both the workbooks and the book will also be available in PDF, Kindle, I-Books and any other digital format we can make it. You might also see us at conventions with a few copies on hand too :).. So set the date for our Virtual and Official Print Release for April 16th, 2012!!!
We have a lot going on in 2012, and it’s going to be the best year ever! We look forward to sharing all of our adventures with you in 2012!
